I was thrilled to attend this year’s International Women’s Day Breakfast held at the Ramada Hotel in Prince George on March 3th. The breakfast was hosted by the Honourable Shirley Bond, MLA for Prince George-Valemount. The theme was “Celebrating women who make a difference”.
My friend Julie and I arrived about 15 minutes before it started and we saw the lobby was full of women of all ages and backgrounds. There was a very positive vibe of anticipation, and it was wonderful to be greeted so warmly by some friends, many I had not seen in a while.
Breakfast began and we were overwhelmed by the number of people in attendance. It was sold out! One of the highlights for me was Krista Levar and her co-worker Max from Victim Services. Max is a dog that you would love! He shares his love with people that are hurting as victims of crime, and loves unconditionally.
Overall I was encouraged and inspired by all of the presentations and stories. I am also thankful for the people and businesses who made this event possible. I am not politically driven, but I do appreciate what I have today as a women and it was an honour to celebrate those women who influence our community.
Our local television station did a segment on the breakfast and you can watch a short video here – http://www.ckpg.com/2017/03/03/international-womens-day-breakfast-a-hit/
“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style. If you have only one smile in you give it to the people you love. Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.” —- Maya Angelou
Happy International Women’s Day!
