Besides the fact that I am 46 years old and still don’t know what to do with my life, I have decided to take on a personal issue that has been dragging me down and kicking the crap out of me for far too long. My health.
Most things in life you have very little control over. You make what you believe are good choices but then you realize that sometimes, it’s just a crap shoot. I earned a masters degree in education with the hope it would propel me to success, but I’m not sure it’s quite lived up to its hype. My career could be described as somewhat turbulent, moving from one contract to the next and never really settling in anywhere. I have good jobs, just not exactly what I had dreamed about.
Family life has been the most important thing, but it can take over leaving you with very little time for yourself. A few months back I had taken a couple of fitness classes but didn’t stick with it. Life got in the way as it usually does. I felt powerless. Being overweight and not being able to focus on your needs, anxiety and depression were not far behind. I was tired of being fat. I wanted to be around for my kids as they grow up. It was time to make a change so I took control of my situation.
I contacted my old fitness instructor and she has been an amazing support for me. I began taking as many as 3 classes a day. I felt determined and there was nothing stopping me. My family was supportive and everything just worked out this time. As I write today’s first entry I have been back at it for about 8 months and I have lost 60 pounds and over 20 inches! I feel so much better physically and emotionally. I should mention that I have done this without dieting or even changing my eating habits, but certainly something I would like to change in the future. I will post some before and after photos soon but for now, first things first.
This blog is new for me, but something I’ve always wanted to do. I will continue to update my personal fitness progress and I would absolutely love to hear from you if you would like to chat. Please comment or send me a quick note to firstname.lastname@example.org Further posts on a variety of topics are coming soon. Thank you for visiting my site.
